13th - 24th August 2008

13th August 2008
I'm waiting for Mama to finish her breakfast. I usually try to fish for compliments from passersby by smiling cutely. I'm soooo cute! But what has been annoying Mama abit is that 98% of passersby think I'm a boy, despite me wearing pink clothes. You mean nowadays it's become common for boys to wear pink?

I also like kiao kah. That part, a bit boyish.. hehe...

When I get tired of looking at passersby, I play with my toes...

Get me out of this jail!

Papa went to buy some drum stuff. This is a kiddy drum set which costs $650 or $850. CAn't remember. Cool...

14th August 2008
Papa and Mama got 2 free adult tickets to the Night Safari expiring end of this month. So they brought me to the Night Safari for the first time. Mama brought Aunty Bri along to be my personal nanny since she has no school the next day.
We are waiting for the tram to come. You don't expect us to be walking all night do you?
Seriously, this zebra was the highlight of the excursion cos it's too dark to see the real animals... The animal that I really saw up close and personal was the leopard. They were just parading in front of me, separated by a glass of course. :)

Bringing a young baby like me to a Night Safari is a real waste of money cos I get so tired so fast. Thankfully it's free. We didn't even see the Animal Show... Tip for parents: Watch the first show before going on the tram and other walking trails.
Aunty Bri looks so cute here. :) That's Papa's car behind.

22nd August 2008
Nowadays I like to stand on my stroller. Very dangerous! I can somehow weave my way out of the 3-point harness. Mama is too lazy to use the other 2 points to make it super safe.

24th August 2008
I must have been very tired. Once Uncle Donald carried me, I dozed off. Man... Mama and I will really miss Uncle Donald when the family leaves cos he's really comfortable to sleep on and Mama can concentrate on the service when I nap on him.

Opening Birthday Presents

Thank you Uncles and Aunties who contributed to the Buy-Kai Qi-A-Toy Piano-Fund. We now have enough to buy a piano. Now, Mama has to re-consider shipping in the Toy Piano or get a proper keyboard. There should be enough even for a toy kitchen. We will see...

26th August 2008
Mama was very bored and she felt like opening my presents. She initially wanted to open just one and open the rest on my actual birthday, which is 2 days away. But after one, she couldn't stop... And she opened without Papa, so naughty....

That's from the CG, which is an AquaDoodle and PlaySkool Walk and Ride, which sad to say, I already have... But thanks anyway Uncles and Aunties! It shows you guys chose great presents since Mama thinks they are great too! :)

That's the AquaDoodle from the Leows. Aunty Sandra actually called Mama a week ago to ask what to give me. Mama thought it's time for me to doodle, safely. So AquaDoodle is good in the sense that it's water and non-toxic. The only thing is you can erase it off when you like, like the other doodling models. It will automatically dry up after a few minutes. So you can't keep your masterpiece.

Da Jiu bought a Dora's Laptop for me! Abit advanced for a 1 year old, considering it's for a 3-6yr old. But hey, I got to be a techie girl like my Papa.

Hehe... At this point, I enjoy playing with the wrapping paper and eating them. :)

This Doodle Pro is from Uncle Joshua and Aunty Wei Mei. Mama was thinking of getting something like this herself. This doesn't dry out or disappear unless I want them to. Cool!

Uncle Tan Whatt and Aunty Siew Hoon bought me a set of clothes. I'm naturally focusing on the paper tag of course.

Uncle Richard bought me a push seat thingy which Mama also wanted to buy me ultimately so that she can push me to the park or Vista Point when I am older and want to walk part of the way.

Uncle SK and Aunty Erny bought me a wooden Noah's Ark thingy. Nice. :)

Uncle Lew and family bought me a bag and a baby Piglet soft toy.
The strawberry looks too tempting and yummy, I've got to try it.

I like the Piglet. I like to bite the ears. Hehe... But seriously, please don't get me anymore soft toys cos Mama never likes soft toys and she is hoping that I don't like them too cos dust settle and it become dusty and you know how lazy Mama is... I have a higher chance of getting asthma cos Papa has, so Mama wants to reduce the chances of me getting it. But I really like it. :)

Uncle Chai Meng and Aunty Jolene bought a pile of books for me. Mama likes them cos they are age relevant for me! Bright colours, nice pictures and few words. Very thoughtful of Aunty Jolene. She's really good with children. :) Mama likes the ribbon.

Aunty Irene and Uncle Peter bought me a Samsonite small bag. Mama is still figuring out what it's for. Uncle Wong suggested that it's a shoe bag. Hehe.. Shall ask Aunty Irene if she has an idea. :)

Look at this cool umbrella. It's from G.Aunty Annabel and Bri and family. It's for my stroller! They bought orange to match with my Combi stroller.

That's me and all the presents I received at my party. I'm a blessed girl. Mama didn't include Aunty Dotz's and Aunty Angela's cos Grandma washed them.

23rd August 2008 Party

Dear Uncles and Aunties, if you have nice pictures of the party (and the cake before the melt down), can you please email to Mama jenny@unikhome.com ? Thanks!

Before the party, I was spending some time with Por Por and Gong Gong. Por Por had been busy preparing the food since yesterday. She made Kong Bak Pau, Fried Noodles and Gado Gado. All very yummy! :) She worked so hard that she was very tired at the end of the day. Just conked out.

Da Yi made the spaghetti sauce, konnyaku jelly, Ah Ma made Ngor Hiang and Achar, Aunty Erny made pizza (which was a hit; many flavours like roast duck, hawaiian etc). All the food was yummy lah. :)

Ok, if you are wondering like some of Mama's friends, if Mama didn't cook anything, what did she do? And her answer to them was, Me! The reason for this party! Haha!!!! Ok ok. God made me. :) Well, she decorated the place. She's is especially proud of the wall decals, which she painstakingly cut out and blue-tacked. Very nice! :)

I am wearing this romper for the first time. Mama bought it from Gap (50% off), using the ang pow that Aunty Jennifer gave me for Christmas. The dots match the butterfly theme. You will know what I mean when you scroll below to see the wall decor.

Aunty Bri and Mama were letting me try out some clothes to decide what to wear for the party. We almost decided on this since it has butterflies and flowers on it. Urm.. I am more concerned about eating the butterflies. Yums... they taste good. Hee....

G.Aunty Annabel and Aunty Bri are decorating my birthday cake! G. Aunty Annabel baked the brownies last night. She's now making the chocolate icing that is the "glue" between the cakes cos she needs to pile them to make it taller.
That's a light pink butter cream icing. It looks so light in this picture but it's actually a very sweet pastel-ly pink. The top layer is banana cake that G.Aunty Annabel baked for me to eat but in the end, I hardly ate it cos I was too over-whelmed to eat anything today.

The towers are made of mini swiss rolls.

Everything on the cake is edible, not necessarily nice lah (the flowers). Very sweet hor? Aunty Bri was in charge of piping the grass, trailers, my name, the number 1 and placing the flowers.

That's my Great Grandmother. I am scared of old people, for now. You can see how scared I am, that I always cry when I see her or Mama's Grandma.

Aunty Jennifer and Uncle Roger bought this beautiful dress for me. It's from BloomB. It's like a dress from heaven, just when I didn't have anything to wear! (urm.... my wardrobe is full of clothes but no new wearable dress). So sweet!

By 7pm, I was very tired already! Grandpa actually put me to sleep! So I took a nap for half an hour before Mama woke me up at about 8pm to cut cake. Can't possibly make people wait for me to wake up, which might take 2 hours? I was super stone. You can tell from all the pictures that we took. Sigh... the 2 hours nap earlier in the day was not enough to last me till 8.30pm.

Before I woke up, we showed the guests a 8.5mins video clip of my first year, edited by Uncle Wong. It was very nicely done and funny. I see if I can get Papa to upload on the blog one of these days. By the way, this is a sample of Papa's videography/editing business.

G. Aunty Annabel is lighting up the candles. Each letter is lighted up. But please don't buy this expensive candles. They burn up very fast and made my buttercream icing melt!!!

Nicole Jie Jie had been calling Gong Gong the whole day to bring her over to our place earlier but he was too tired to do so. So, she had to carry me when she's here.

Finally, a small smile from me.

You can see that I'm really getting cranky. Mama changed me out of the party dress to something more comfortable.

Yeeks! I'm eating Aunty Bri's hair!

That's Grandpa patting me to sleep. But I didn't. Papa bathed me. And Mama breastfed me after her shower. After drinking some, I was actually re-charged. So Mama took me out again.

See? I'm all ready to play and enjoy the party but by this time, most people have left, except for Uncle Donald's family and the CG people. Hehe... I was quite fascinated by Jared Kor Kor's penguin.
